Doctors living with Parkinson’s
I’ve recently been interviewed by Seren Boyd, along with Jonny Acheson, Panna Katechia and Richard Prettyman, to talk about what it’s like to have Parkinson’s disease and work as a Doctor. It was surprisingly difficult to talk about in some ways, after all Doctors aren’t supposed to get sick or to talk about it. It’s good to realise that others have similar experiences. Working in healthcare and having a disease like Parkinson’s gives a pretty unique prespective, too much knowledge and not enough and there is always the feeling that it might all be in your mind. That’s the insideous nature of early Parkinson’s disease and the reality that when the pills are working you feel completely normal. It’s just they don’t always work and they are not predictible in when they don’t. Keeps life interesting I guess. Anyway, it’s an excellent article, have a read.
