The Movers and Shaker’s podcast is trying to get better care for Parkinson’s Disease sufferers with a ‘Parky Charter’. They have adapted ‘I will survive’ to help raise awareness.
Currently there are huge delays in diagnosis and review for Parkinson’s disease. The numbers of sufferers are increasing mkaing the delay’s worse and this is an illness managed entirely by spcialist Neurologists, Geriatricians and Nurses rather than GPs so this is a massive issue. Awareness of this needs to raised, changes made and funded. The Parky Charter is the solution.
PD is not just a disease of the elderly, it occurs at any age and has massive impacts of the lives of young suffers, their ability to work and their, often, young families.
It needs better care, better treatments and a cure.
